Where can you buy gluten free gravy and gluten free stock cubes in the UK?
This is a question I get asked often, especially by people with coeliac disease or anyone following a strict gluten free diet. Gravy and stock cubes are everyday kitchen staples, but many standard versions contain wheat flour, barley, or a “may contain wheat” warning, which can make shopping more confusing than it needs to be.
To make things easier, I checked the free from aisles, gravy sections and chilled cabinets in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons to find gluten free gravy granules, ready-made gravy and stock options that are clearly suitable. Availability can vary by store, so always check the label before buying, but this guide should give you a useful starting point.
After all, a roast dinner, bangers and mash, cottage pie or Sunday lunch just is not the same without a good gravy. If you prefer homemade options, you can also try my gluten free gravy recipe, make ahead gravy or miso gravy.
Sadly, classic Oxo cubes are not usually an option for anyone avoiding gluten, and some Bisto products carry a “may contain wheat” warning even when gluten is not listed in the ingredients. The good news is that there are still plenty of gluten free gravy and stock cube choices available in UK supermarkets.
We will begin with gluten free gravy, then move on to gluten free stock cubes and stock pots.
Gluten free gravy
Here are some of the gluten free gravy granules and ready-made gravies I found during my supermarket search. These products were spotted in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morrisons, mainly in the free from aisle, although a few were in the chilled section or the main gravy aisle.
Bisto gluten free gravy
Bisto gluten free gravy is one of the easiest options to recognise and was found in the free from aisle in Tesco and Asda. It is a useful cupboard staple if you want a quick gravy for roast dinners, sausages, pies or mashed potato.

Asda Extra Special beef and chicken gravy
Asda Extra Special beef and chicken gravy options were found in the chilled aisle and were marked as new and gluten free. These are useful if you prefer ready-made chilled gravy rather than granules.

Gluten free stock cubes
Once the gravy is sorted, the next question is usually stock. Stock cubes, stock pots and stock powders are used in soups, stews, risottos, casseroles, sauces and homemade gravy, so finding reliable gluten free stock options is essential.
This is not a complete list of every gluten free stock product available, but these are some of the options I found in UK supermarkets.
