A Week in Photos: Family Life, Work, and Little Moments
This week was exhausting and a little chaotic. I dove back into work full force and quickly felt wiped out. On top of that, I seem to have pinched a nerve in my back and discovered a strange lump under my armpit that has me a bit worried — not a diagnosis, just something I need to keep an eye on. Despite feeling like I was falling apart at times, a small bright spot was getting a new iPhone, which made taking photos and documenting the week even more fun. Here’s the week in pictures and a few thoughts about family life, parenting, and juggling work.
Sunday:
The kids discovered these treats and polished them off. Sometimes the small mischiefs make the day memorable.
Our littlest spent time on the ground exploring. He gets set down a lot these days and loves it.
No filter needed — the sky put on a show and the parking lot filled with people taking photos.
Monday:
A helper waiting with Caroline for the bus. Small gestures like this make morning routines easier.
An evening that felt perfect for a quick impromptu photo session — the light was kind to us.
I’m grateful for clients who genuinely like my kids — or at least are excellent at pretending they do.
Tuesday:
Baby burrito — bundled up and content for a quiet moment.
I adore her little uniform. Tiny details like this brighten the hectic mornings.
Only Tuesday and already collapsing into a couch nap. Parenting and work take a lot out of you.
Wednesday:
Picture Day! The kids were camera-ready and oddly cooperative.
Same park, another gorgeous day — grateful for easy outdoor locations for photoshoots.
An emergency run for diapers, bread, and a little chocolate for the parental survival kit.
Thursday:
That look you get when the alarm goes off — I relate to this image on a spiritual level.
I meant to iron all the wraps. Intentions were good; life happened instead.
I vowed not to be awake at this hour again. We’ll see how that goes.
Friday:
My first photo with the new phone — I was so excited I didn’t mind that it wasn’t perfect.
The clarity is amazing — now I can see the mess in higher definition than ever.
A pattern that reminded me of a favorite carrier — little visual connections brighten the day.
Saturday:
From up here, everything looks calmer. A favorite view to help reset.
Completely in love with this crib — proud moment putting it together by myself.
A lovely moment at the festival — simple family time that felt restorative.
The weekend was a mixed bag. Saturday started rough enough that I made the kids go back to bed for a fresh start; that extra sleep made a huge difference. They each napped for a couple of hours, and then we headed to a local festival where everyone behaved and we had a really pleasant afternoon. Sunday, though, felt overwhelming again — I’m realizing I prefer the structure of school days. The routine helps keep work, parenting, and household tasks from fraying my nerves.
This week reminded me how important small comforts are: reliable routines, short naps, a favorite view, and tiny celebrations like a new phone that makes documenting family life easier. It also highlighted some personal needs — physical rest for a sore back, and a check-in with a doctor about that lump so I can stop worrying. For other parents and busy professionals reading along, remember that juggling family life, work, and self-care is a marathon, not a sprint. Take the small wins when they come, and try to build in time to recover between the busy stretches. Here’s to a calmer week ahead, more sleep, and more moments worth photographing.
